SPS students to receive personalized, professional career coaching to enhance their success after graduation
EVANSTON, IL. (MARCH 13, 2018) — Northwestern University School of Professional Studies (SPS), a national leader in continuing and professional education, today announced a partnership with student success coaching pioneer InsideTrack to launch a new career coaching program tailored to the needs of working adult students in their undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Over the next four years, InsideTrack’s professional career coaches will work with SPS students on career exploration, planning and professional development to support their long-term success in the workplace.
With personalized support from their career coach and interactive digital content on topics including career strategy, career planning, networking, branding, self-promotion, interview skills and more, SPS students will gain the insights, skills and confidence to advance their career.
“As an organization focused on providing the highest quality learning and career advancement opportunities for busy professionals, we believe that strong career development support is a core part of the Northwestern professional studies experience,” said Thomas Gibbons, Dean of the Northwestern University School of Professional Studies.
As one of Northwestern University’s 12 colleges and schools, the School of Professional Studies has been a core part of Northwestern’s commitment to supporting adult learning for more than 80 years with innovative programs designed specifically for working adults, professionals, and lifelong learners.
“With most adult students re-entering higher education to improve their career trajectory, it is critically important to embed career development as a core part of the student experience,” said Margaret McCarthy, Associate Dean of Student and Alumni Services at Northwestern University School of Professional Studies. “InsideTrack’s professional career coaching enables us to expand on the School of Professional Studies’ longtime focus of helping students master skills that modern professionals need to advance their careers.”
Thanks to InsideTrack’s uCoach technology platform, coaches and students can engage through whichever channel they prefer, whether it be voice, video, email, text or mobile apps. The platform also allows for automated nudges and engagement tracking to generate insights for university staff and administrators.
“Northwestern’s School of Professional Studies has a well-earned reputation as a trailblazer in the field of serving post-traditional learners through innovative programs,” said Mike Embry, associate vice president of program development at InsideTrack. “We’re excited and proud to be partnering with SPS to ensure that their students take full advantage of the career opportunities ahead of them with a Northwestern degree.”
