California State University Partners with InsideTrack to Enhance Student Enrollment and Increase Completion

With Master Enabling Agreement CSU campuses will leverage InsideTrack’s research-proven student success solutions

LONG BEACH, CA (September 13, 2017) — InsideTrack announced today a Master Enabling Agreement (MEA) with the California State University (CSU) that provides the university’s 23 campuses access to a broad range of InsideTrack recruitment and retention services proven to enhance student outcomes. The three-year MEA builds on more than a decade of partnership between InsideTrack and CSU campuses across the state, allowing any CSU campus to access InsideTrack coaching, consulting, training, analytical and technological services through a simple scope of work.

“The California State University is leading the way in providing personalized support to an increasingly diverse array of students,” said Gerry Hanley, CSU’s assistant vice chancellor, academic technology services. “We’ve enjoyed partnering with InsideTrack for many years and are excited to streamline collaboration between InsideTrack and our campuses, so we can enhance and expand our enrollment processes for our campuses’ Cal State Online programs and ensure that all CSU students graduate prepared for career success.”

InsideTrack supports institutions in designing and operating student support programs that increase enrollment, completion, career readiness, institutional effectiveness, and student satisfaction with the college experience.  Beginning in 2007, InsideTrack worked with Cal State Monterey Bay to increase persistence for low-income, first-generation and minority students, resulting in double-digit gains across the board.  Since then, the organization has partnered with a number of other CSU campuses to drive enrollment and completion for traditional-age and working adult students, including Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Channel Islands, CSU Dominguez Hills, and CSU Fullerton.

“Many of today’s students are adding education to already busy lives, filled with work, family and other obligations,” said Gary Berg, associate vice president for academic affairs and dean of extended university at California State University Channel Islands. “Working with InsideTrack greatly enhances our ability to support these students in making informed enrollment decisions and building the skills they need to succeed in school and in life.”

Over InsideTrack’s 16-year history, empirical research has established the organization’s methodology as a proven approach for improving student outcomes. A meta-analysis of randomized experiments by Stanford University professor Eric Bettinger found a 10- to 15-percent increase in retention and graduation rates among students who received InsideTrack coaching, compared with their peers. Today, InsideTrack coaching remains one of the only higher education interventions that has satisfied the rigorous standards of evidence established by the U.S. Department of Education for inclusion in the What Works Clearinghouse.

“The CSU is one of the finest educational systems in the country and we’re proud to be expanding our partnership in such a meaningful way,” said Kai Drekmeier, president and founder of InsideTrack. “As an organization with deep roots working with California’s public higher education system, we believe in the mission of the CSU and share their conviction that innovative approaches to student support can help more deserving students not only access higher education, but also realize their potential as learners and college graduates with fulfilling career options.”
