Khori Whittaker visits the White House and meets with Education Secretary Duncan

Discussions focused on federal educational policy initiatives

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, August 17, 2011 — InsideTrack (www.insidetrack.com) announced today that Khori Whittaker, Director of Program Development, met with United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and other senior policy advisors on August 16th in Washington, D.C., at a policy briefing organized by Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE).

“This event provided a unique opportunity for LEE members  who have shown leadership in education policy,” said David Schapira, Arizona State Senator and LEE’s Vice President of Political Programs. “Our members were able to engage with the nation's top education leaders on the current state and future of education policy in the U.S.”

Since transitioning from the elementary school classroom nine years ago, Mr. Whittaker has worked at the secondary and postsecondary education levels advocating for underrepresented student populations. The Teach for America alum and LEE member is currently leading InsideTrack’s initiatives to bring executive-style coaching to students enrolled in Historically Black Colleges and Universities and community colleges.

“Teach for America has built a solid alumni leadership infrastructure that allows us to continue to advocate for children and students,” said Mr. Whittaker. “This policy briefing enabled me to personally share with leaders in the Department of Education my perspective on what’s happening in classrooms and college campuses across the country.”

Mr. Whittaker was joined by approximately 100 LEE members, who are leaders in education policy from across the country. The group visited the White House in the morning, followed by meetings at the U.S. Department of Education with Secretary Duncan and other senior administration officials.
