Coach Knows Best

The outsourcing of student coaching and advising appears to be less controversial than it was when InsideTrack, a private company that provides coaches via phone, arrived on the scene in 2001.
For one thing, colleges are feeling plenty of pressure to step up their game in getting students to graduation. That probably makes it harder to criticize their use of outside help on coaching. InsideTrack announces new jobs for downtown Nashville
InsideTrack, a San Francisco-based student coaching company, announced today plans for a new coaching center in downtown Nashville. According to a news release, InsideTrack “plans to bring hundreds of jobs to downtown Nashville over several years.” The release does not provide a more precise jobs number, and a company official was not immediately available for comment. The new center opened today in the Washington Square building at 222 Second Ave. N.

DOE Evidence Meets Practice Report Highlights the Value of Student Coaching

The Department of Education recently released a report entitled “Evidence Meets Practice” highlighting institutional strategies that have been shown to increase college completion. According to the report, college student coaching is among the most cost-effective means of improving student outcomes.
