National Student ClearinghouseThis morning, I started reviewing the latest Signature Report from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, “Transfer & Mobility: A National View of Pre-Degree Student Movement in Postsecondary Institutions.” While I have yet to digest the entire report, I did find two items quite interesting:

2) 4-year student transfers are lower, but still significant in Year 1 and Years 3+

Advocates seek to improve assessment of grad program outcomes

According to Debra W. Stewart, president of the Council of Graduate Schools, to achieve better learning outcomes assessment for graduate education that include “input from the graduate community, reflect the diversity of master’s education,” and “[are] informed by the real career needs of master’s-degree recipients,” it is first necessary to develop a “national framework for the collection and use of data on postgraduate careers” and “build a process for community engagement in the definition of learning expectations within and across institutions.”
