Roger Whitaker is  Professor of Higher Education Administration and of Sociology at The George Washington University. Before recently returning to a full-time faculty position, Dr. Whitaker served in a variety of roles in GW's Office of Academic Affairs as an Associate Vice President. He was the founding Dean of the College of Professional Studies -- the University's newest and most entrepreneurial degree-granting academic unit. Before come to GW in 1994, he served as the founding President of the American College of Sofia, Bulgaria. Prior to this East European initiative, he spent 15 years at Boston University in a variety of faculty and administrative roles. Aside from senior administrative positions, Dr. Whitaker served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Africa in the late 1960s and, in 2005-1006 as president of the University Continuing Education Association.  Roger is one of the leading experts on academic entrepreneurship, organizational change, and innovation in higher education. He has a long track record of  re-invigorating existing organizations, and has successfully launched several start-up educational enterprises. Roger holds a Bachelor of Arts from Heidelberg College, and received both a Master of Arts and a Doctorate from Boston University.
